The DC Chapter of ISSP is pleased to welcome Tristram Stuart and Hilary Landa to speak at our May Lunch & Learn event, which will coincide with the District of Columbia’s Food Recovery Week of Action.

Approximately 40% of the food we grow is never eaten.  That is an astonishing waste of labor, water, energy, money and other resources to produce food that is simply thrown away by corporate kitchens, restaurants, grocery stores and consumers.  This global food waste epidemic has wide-ranging impacts on everything from poverty and food security to climate change.  Significant efforts are being made to increase awareness and reduce food waste around the world.  Our speakers will discuss the issues surrounding food waste, and what you can do as a company sustainability practitioner, and at home.  Additionally, the Ad Council will present their newly unveiled food waste PSA and campaign, which was produced in partnership with the Natural Resources Defense Council.
