Please join the Atlantic Council and the Razumkov Centre for an event entitled “The State of Ukraine’s Energy Sector.”
Despite positive changes in the gas sector, more reform is needed in the broader energy field for Ukraine’s national security and development. As the expiration of Ukraine’s gas-transportation agreement with Russia approaches later this year, energy security is one of the top challenges facing the country. Ukraine has undertaken significant efforts in recent years to reform aspects of the energy sector, including the electricity and gas markets and regulatory and tariff systems. Prospects for renewable energy sources continue to be explored, along with international investment opportunities in the Ukrainian energy market. With Russia hoping to bring Nord Stream 2 online next year, which could create an alternate path for natural gas supplies that excludes Ukraine, energy reform is even more urgent.
At this event, the Atlantic Council will host Razumkov Centre experts to present a publication on the role of Ukraine’s energy sector in the global energy landscape. This will be followed by panel discussions which will explore the current state of energy in Ukraine, immediate and long-term strategies for reform and development, and Ukraine’s place in the global energy sector.
We hope you can join us for this timely discussion.
