Solar energy has become the cheapest and fastest-growing power source on earth. However, in order for it to achieve its full potential, Dr. Varun Sivaram argues in his new book that several kinds of innovation are required:
–financial innovation and new business models to facilitate the spread of off-grid applications;
–technology innovation to replace today’s solar panels with coatings as cheap as paint; and
–systemic innovation to allow more flexible power grids to handle intermittent solar power.
All of this will require visionary public policy.
Note: Books will be available for purchase after the talk.
