Energy Storage is touted as the next big game changer for the solar and energy industries, but is it hype or reality? This Lunch &L earn will help you get past the headlines and find out what’s really happening in the industry. As solar costs continue to decline, increased emphasis is placed on energy storage. Get a primer on different types of energy storage applications and which ones are economically viable now, why energy storage is critical in the long-term and lessons learned from real projects that are currently operational. Kerinia Cusick from Distributed Energy Innovation will give an overview of the storage activities around the globe and Chris Cook from Solar Grid Storage will talk about solar and storage integration.
· Kerinia Cusick, Principle Consultant at Distributed Energy Innovation, is an experienced leader with a proven track record of identifying, developing and fully commercializing new business opportunities in renewable energy sector. She has deep expertise in solar energy, energy storage, and electricity markets and eight years of experience in the renewable energy sector, responsible either for creating a new business line, shaping markets to create business opportunities, or leading business development.
· Chris Cook, Principle at Solar Grid Storage Consulting has deep expertise in solar energy, energy storage and successfully launching companies. He was one of the four original founders of SunEdison which he left to start Solar Grid Storage. He’s at the forefront of integrating solar with energy storage and has been working on integrated projects for over 5 years. His work in renewable energy and storage project development policy and technical capabilities are supported with his background in electrical engineering and law.
· Pari Kasotia (moderator) is the Deputy Director at The Solar Foundation and is responsible for providing operational oversight for all core functions at the organization. In addition to her business acumen, she has strong expertise in clean energy markets, energy efficiency, and biofuels.
