The Solar Energy Industries Association and the Wind Solar Alliance are convening a breakfast panel discussion.

As demands on the U.S. electric grid evolve, and as our electricity mix diversifies, our nation’s electricity markets are in need of reform. To ensure a reliable and affordable power supply for future generations, customers and grid operators alike need markets that are flexible, fair, far, and free. Flexible power systems that utilize modern technologies are essential to adapt to shifting load requirements on a diverse electric grid. Ratepayers and resource providers deserve fair market rules that even the playing field and promote healthy competition. Markets need to have far-reaching geographic scope to efficiently handle supply and demand among variable resources and customers. And like any open market, electricity markets must be free from barriers to entry and exit, supporting a healthy balance between goals such as cost, distribution method, and environmental impact.
