Eight to Infinity is a multi-media, multi-cultural, multi-generational program celebrating Ecologic Institute’s 8th anniversary on Earth Day, April 22, 2016, beginning at 5pm.

Join us for an exciting evening that will feature:

Artworks by Terry Thomas’s 5th Graders from DC’s Seaton Elementary

Andrea Wulf, renowned author of The Invention of Nature

Camilla Bausch, Director of Ecologic Institute Berlin and founder of the EnergyTransitionArt project.

A very special collaboration between Seaton Elementary and Ecologic Institute will result in students presenting artworks on their perceptions of nature and the environment. Because the students are growing up in a highly diverse and urbanized setting, their perspectives are particularly important to the future of society’s relationship with nature.

Andrea Wulf, author of The Invention of Nature, a comprehensive look at Alexander von Humboldt’s unique role in defining our modern conception of nature, will discuss Humboldt’s grand quest to understand “the unity of nature” and present some of the elaborate drawings he created that altered the way scientists and society relate to the natural world.

Camilla Bausch, Director of Ecologic Institute in Germany, will share artworks and impressions from the recent EnergyTransitionArt exhibition in Berlin. This socio-political art project on the energy transformation in Germany brings a “broader and more colourful approach” to environmental discourse.

Because it is our birthday, cake will be served, generously donated from the newest members of our neighborhood, Un je ne sais Quoi… pâtisserie française. Following our speakers, a lightly-catered reception with live music will take place.

We are happy to welcome your friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, and anyone else you think would enjoy celebrating the relationship between art and nature. We do ask that you register for the event so that we can avoid order too much (or too little) food, thank you.

We look forward to seeing you on April 22, 2016!
