With China’s increasingly serious smog problem, the International Fund for China’s Environment (IFCE) and the Center for US-China Technology, Innovation and Development (UCTID) will host the1st Global Forum on China’s Urban Air Pollution Control in Washington DC on June 17-18, 2016, with supports from leading institutions in the United States, China and Europe. It will bring together government officials from the three regions, top technical experts, innovative entrepreneurs, and leading representatives of civil and international institutions. The forum will discuss about the status quo of China’s smog mitigation, share successful experience, demonstrate best practices, promote innovative technology, and search for new model of international collaboration. This will provide important and timely international support to China’s urban air pollution control efforts. We welcome Chinese and international government officials, technical experts, entrepreneurs, and concerned professionals to join the forum.

Different from previous air pollution control events in China, the 1st Global Forum on China’s Urban Air Pollution Control is strongly supported by U.S. government agencies, leading think tanks and industrial organizations. This includes but not limited to the US Environmental Protection Agency, US State Department, Paulson Institute and the Institute for Clean Air Companies, among many others. This collaboration will provide an unprecedented combination of technical, policy and platform resources to the forum. In China, the forum will work closely with the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC), Clean Air Alliance of China (CAAC), China Association of Environmental Protection Industry (CAEPI) and a few corporate associations at local level to implement and develop. This forum, which is the first docking platform on air pollution control in North America, is intended to support senior government officials among increasing civil cooperation and serve as a platform as well as incubator for the implementation of grass-roots projects.

We are expecting 150 attendees to this event – including 50 delegates from 30 clean air companies in China. Participants will include representatives of city officials from US and Europe, experts in clean air technology, entrepreneurs in the environmental field, investment institutions, scientific researchers, leaders of non-profit organization, and various members of the Chinese investment community and proponents of low-carbon industrial parks. The Fund’s activities will be supported and joined by the Chinese Embassy’s Economic and Technology Departments.

The International Fund for China’s Environment has worked on US-China technological docking and promotion for over 16 years. From 2016, the Fund has turned the technology program into the US-China Green Technology Promotion Center. The forum will be held in the International Monetary Fund at Washington DC, one of the two global top financial institutions with the World Bank. As the center of bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation, Washington DC also hosts the headquarters of 500 major American companies and industrial associations.
