COG 2019 Climate and Energy Leadership Awards

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) recently launched its 2019 Climate and Energy Leadership Awards! These awards recognize organizations in our region that are undertaking innovative climate stewardship projects. Here are three ways that you can get involved:

Music & Art for the Climate

To address the root causes of the climate crisis, we have to tackle environmental justice issues in our community. In line with that conviction, 350MoCo is working to build a diverse, multi-cultural coalition of groups across the County, that can join forces on climate and environmental issues. Our June 8 event is a fun first step towards building the diverse community we need, in order to be able to work together.

Bike Tour – Rising Tides of DC

The DC Cycling Concierge will lead a bike tour of the district themed around climate change. This 3- to 4-hour bike tour will start at the CCL Annual Conference site; we will go rollin’ along the rivers, canal ways, and flood prone areas of the nation’s Capital, which also happen to be remarkably scenic neighborhoods and natural sites.

Citizens’ Climate 10th Annual International Conference & Lobby Day

Ten years ago, the Citizens’ Climate Lobby held its first conference. Since then, we’ve met annually – ordinary people from around the country – to learn, to connect, and to ask Congress to introduce bipartisan climate legislation.
