On June 4, please join us for a screening of the award-winning Netflix documentary Chasing Coral, followed by a Q&A with Dr. James Porter of the University of Georgia, a Scientific Advisor to the documentary. On June 6, please join us for an Ocean Exploration Expo to showcase breakthrough ocean technology, including footage from ocean exploration missions and other hands-on experiences from the start-ups, researchers, philanthropists, and government agencies at the front lines of modern ocean exploration.

2019 DOE Building Technologies Office Peer Review

The 2019 U.S. Department of Energy Building Technologies Office’s seventh annual Peer Review will encompass many of BTO’s active research, development, validation, and systems integration projects. Independent experts will assess the progress and contributions of each project toward BTO’s mission and goals, and these assessments will be used to enhance the management of existing efforts, gauge the effectiveness of projects, and design future programs. The meeting will also provide an opportunity to promote collaborations and partnerships.

Integrating Air Quality, Water & Climate Concerns into China’s Energy Strategy

The talk will feature two examples in the energy space to highlight the potential synergies and tradeoffs between multiple environmental objectives: a) scaling up electric vehicles for air quality vs. carbon mitigation objectives, and b) building transmission infrastructure to address air pollution vs. water conservation goals. Both examples are evaluated by an integrated assessment method using scenario analysis, air quality modeling, and/or optimization modeling. These analyses highlight the importance of integrating carbon, air pollution and water objectives into China’s energy strategies to simultaneously address local and global sustainability challenges.
