High Performance Building Week is an annual event sponsored by the High-Performance Buildings Caucus of the U.S. Congress. The Caucus was formed to heighten awareness and inform policymakers about the major impact buildings have on our health, safety and welfare and the opportunities to design, construct and operate high-performance buildings that reflect our concern for these impacts.
Fundamental to these concerns include protecting life and property, developing novel building technologies, facilitating and enhancing U.S. economic competitiveness, increasing energy efficiency in the built environment, assuring buildings have minimal climate change impacts and are able to respond to changes in the environment The Caucus also supports the development of private sector standards, codes, and guidelines that address these concerns.
The High Performance Building Coalition, founded by ASHRAE, is a coalition of approximately 200 organizations that provides guidance and support to the Caucus. During HPB Week, a number of events are being planned by the High Performance Building Coalition including visiting with members of Congress and a reception on Capitol Hill for members of Congress, their staff and representatives from the Coalition.
