Energy Storage for Resilience to Natural Disasters & Other Extreme Events

Recent Hurricanes Harvey and Irma left millions of homes and businesses without power, with some expected to wait weeks for service restoration. Meanwhile, the recent Department of Energy Staff Report on Electricity Markets and Reliability has highlighted resilience needs in a changing electric grid. Energy storage is increasingly adopted for backup power during extreme events and for flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing conditions.
